It was over fifteen years ago in 1991 that the Chairman and the Chief executive officer (Mr. Douglas J. Silva) a qualified engineer by profession, not only founded but funded the Willesden international school, perpetuating in one stroke, the name of his alma mater as a distinguished alumni should, and establishing an international school which has 'leapfrogged' into the twenty first century with a wide spectrum of the latest educational tools, a handpicked team of teachers with multidisciplinary skills and catering to the necessity for a truly international quality of education devoid of narrow national and conspicuous cultural constraints.
Although the nation is prideful of a high literacy rate, it has recorded a recession in the acquisition of linguistic skills from generations past as recorded by historians from Pliny the elder to those more recent. This deficiency constitutes an area on which Willesden has exemplary emphasis in its curriculum and what is beyond the curriculum to attain the standards higher than the national curriculum which is what we are always aiming for, this is why through time our college has been able to develop and become successful through time.
In accordance with the decision to keep the student population abreast of the latest developments in modern scientific research procedures and tools e.g.: the application of radio isotopes in biological and biochemical and clinical research (the G.C.E in advanced level).

By virtue of the success of its students at the examinations in computing conducted by the university of Oxford, Willesden international has gained accreditation as an examination centre not only for the university of Oxford but also those of Cambridge for their own G.C.E (O-Level) and As / A-Levels examinations alternative to those of the university of London.
Deeply implanted into the heart and soul of all the students from the initial stages of the development of the children and the school is the high calibre discipline that has been maintained both in and out of school, a distinct feature in which the school has gained an extraordinary level of recognition both here and abroad more than any other.
Imbued with high ideals and a philosophy for the Sri Lankan educational field but no ulterior monetary motives, a solitary individual's total impact in the sphere of international education can fairly be assessed and evaluated by the success of the fast proliferating student population which would generate significant progressive development of the countries and nations that bore them, those they are successfully domiciled in, and of their own personal lives.
On a resonant note touching deep into the hearts of the founder, the parents, principals, teachers and last but not least the students both past and present, we wish Willesden International every success in its future endeavours at this turning point of its existence.
Thank you
